1st Day

Kochi Station

The current station building was completed in 2008. The distinctive feature of this station is the large arched roof made from local cedar, making it a Kochi landmark.
Kochi Castle

Built by Kazutoyo Yamauchi, the Honmaru and Ninomaru palaces were completed in 1603. This famous castle is one of the few remaining examples of honmaru construction from the Edo period in Japan.

Youbi Ichi

Markets are held on different days of the week in Kochi, starting with the Sunday Market featuring almost 500 tents. There are also Tuesday, Wednesday (private), Thursday, and Friday markets that start early in the morning.

2nd Day
Ekingura & Akaoka Town

In the Edo period, shipping agencies and merchant houses lined the streets, and the town prospered from its location on the old Tosa Highway. Remnants of that time can be seen even today.

Access | Take the JR Dosan Line (toward Awa-Ikeda and Tosa-Yamada) from Kochi Station for about 20 minutes and change trains at Gomen Station to the Gomen-Nahari Line (bound for Aki-Nahari), ride for about 20 minutes to Akaoka Station, and it is about a 10-minute walk from there. |

Kitagawa Villege Monet's Garden Marmottan

Modelled after the garden at French impressionist painter Claudet Monet's home, it expresses the beauty of seasonal plants.

Muroto Geopark

This region-wide theme park looks at the secrets formed by the Muroto Cape and allows visitors to learn about the activities of the people of Muroto, starting with the key points of the geological features and topography.

4th Day
Ryozenji

The first pilgrimage site of the 88 shrines in Shikoku. The beautiful scenery includes the Tahoto and a Meiji garden symbolizing a “temple of prayer.”

Oasahiko Shrine

The god of this shrine is said to give luck, ward off evil, and provide traffic safety. Be sure to see Megane Bridge, Germany Bridge, and the sacred camphor tree that is around 2,000 years old.

5th Day
Takamatsu Station

Takamatsu Station has the largest number of commuters of any station in JR Shikoku, and the current station building was completed in 2001. The smiling "SHIKOKU SMILE STATION" station character was created as a symbol of the service in 2013, greeting customers with a smile and a spirit of hospitality. Currently, the exterior of Takamatsu Station is wrapped with Takamatsu Eki-chan advertising for a limited time, and the large smiling face greets customers that use the station.
